Filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)

The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You'll want to file yours between October 1 and February 1 of your senior year of high school to take advantage of need-based scholarships and financial aid. Like the name suggests, it's FREE to fill out!
You'll need to gather a few things in order to file your FAFSA. You'll need things like your Social Security number, your parents' Social Security numbers (if you are a dependent student), recent tax documents, and banking information.
